Event 2: 13th - 14th: Senior Workshops Ages 11 - 16 (60 places)
Event 3: 15th - 16th: Train the trainer (60 places)
Location: Datec
What is Securiday?
SecuriDay is all about introducing youth to technology and security, and its importance in their everyday lives. We aim to reach people from all areas of the community who want to expand their knowledge, as the goal is to learn about technology and security, be inspired, and have fun while doing it. Whether you’re new to tech or an old hand, everyone is guaranteed to learn something new!
The team:
Established in 2017 SecuriDay has been running events for students all around the world. These events focus on being fun and inspirational - with the intent to share knowledge with passion. Winner of the Australian Information Security Association’s “Best STEM Program” award in 2021.
The workshops:
Cybergames: Capture the flag games are puzzles based on real world information security vulnerabilities. Race against the clock solving complex and fun exercises gathering ‘flags’ to earn points. Who will be the winner? Prizes include awards, drones and books.
How Locks Work: How do locks work, and why do some keys not work as well as others? In this workshop everyone gets some hands-on experience understanding the importance of physical security.
Digital Traces: The internet is effectively a huge database of everything with lots of data. When you focus on a particular subject, you can trace its digital footprint. This workshop explores the traceability and potential impact of digital footprints.
Cyber Safety: The cyber safety workshop covers a range of topics including password management, your identity on the web, with real case studies and student interaction.
Kids Can Code: Code is the basis of our digital world. This workshop explores what we can do with code while also imparting industry best practices and lessons for life. Using Scratch students are introduced to coding, creating an adventure with a wizard space taco and showing them that with the power of code anything is possible.
Train the Trainer: For educators the cybergames, physical security, digital traces, cyber safety and kids can code workshops are presented in reusable format to be able to be shared with additional students.
